Some Shout Outs
July 2nd, 2008 by GCI Canada StaffA lot of people like to link to bloggers they learn from, and I’m no exception. I think it’s worthwhile to show some appreciation for those that inspire in the social media space, and also take the initiative to try and get the word out there about this exciting realm.
Here’s a few of my must-read-on-a-daily-basis-recommendations:
Jeremiah Owyang – Owyang is a Senior Analyst at Forrester Research focused on Social Computing for the Interactive Marketer. He talks about the business of social media, and being an analyst, his posts are usually quite detailed but not boring. He’s also a very honest writer, and it feels like he’s talking to you, not at you.
Todd Defren — He is a Principal at SHIFT Communications and also authors the PR-Squared blog. Defren mentions today that he’s moving on to some new challenges, so I’m curious to watch out for those. I like his insights because he’s very plugged in to the scene, and writes about social media from a marketing perspective.
Chris Brogan — Brogan is definitely a blogger’s blogger, someone we all try to emulate. His content is a great mix of personal opinions and industry news, along with some reviews and interviews thrown in for good measure. He was the host of the recent Twebinar.
Jason Kintzler — He is the creator of a social network around social media — no-brainer, right?! — and practises what he preaches. From the site: “PR meets social media at PitchEngine, where PR pros, agencies, journalists and bloggers gather to share and discover new media.” I am a member, have no affiliation and get no kick-backs except to recommend joining a very useful network.

Where are the great social media women? Valeria Maltoni, for instance? Kami Watson-Huyse, etc? Give the ladies some stage.
